Bag limit: Antlered bucks: 2 per day. The season limit is 5 for residents and 4 for nonresidents, and 2 of those bucks must have at least 4 points on one antler or a 12-inch inside spread. Antlerless: 2 per day, 3 per season in Game Zone 1 and 9 per season in Zones 2, 3 and 4. Every deer must be tagged where it falls and reported through SC Game Check by midnight that day.
Draw or lottery: No, tags are available over the counter. No draw for private land. Residents get a free base set of 6 tags with the license. Tags are not sold at stores like Walmart: request them at GoOutdoorsSouthCarolina.com or pick them up at an SCDNR office. WMA seasons differ, and some WMA still gun hunts are by lottery only.
Resident cost: $18 (Hunting license $12, big game permit $6, free base set of 6 deer tags (3 buck, 3 antlerless). Optional: 2 more buck tags (4 points or 12-inch spread) and up to 4 antlerless tags, $5 each. Add a $30.50 WMA permit to hunt WMA land.)
Nonresident cost: $190 to $275 (Hunting license $125 for a year ($75 for 10 days, $40 for 3 days), big game permit $100, first buck tag $50. No free tags. More buck tags are $20 each ($110 for all 4), antlerless tags $10 each. Add a $76 WMA permit to hunt WMA land.)
