About Gray Bear Hunting

The Name Behind the Brand

The name comes from my son, Gray Holbrook — a lifelong hunter and outdoorsman whose passion for hunting and fishing started at a young age. Before he was even ten years old, Gray was already in the field learning from his dad, Jim Holbrook, and his uncle Kenny, alongside his baby brother, Ethan. Those early experiences shaped not only his skills, but his values: preparation, responsibility, and respect for wildlife.

Gray went on to attend gunsmithing school and later worked in firearm and gear sales at Scottsdale Gun Company and Cabela's. He has an exceptional understanding of hunting equipment, firearms, optics, and gear — more than anyone I know. Gray Bear Hunting originally began as a way for him to share that knowledge with other hunters.

Today, Gray works for Arizona Game and Fish, and while he is not involved in the day-to-day operations of the website, he continues to advise me on the products, services, and resources he genuinely trusts and recommends.
