Washington packs an extraordinary range of country into one state, from the rainforests of the Olympic Peninsula to the high desert of the Columbia Basin and the alpine North Cascades. Hunting guides in Washington pursue Roosevelt elk in the wet west, Rocky Mountain elk and mule deer in the drier east, blacktail deer, black bear, and a small but coveted bighorn sheep and moose draw. The terrain demands real preparation and local knowledge.
Fishing charters in Washington are world class. Puget Sound and the Pacific coast produce salmon, halibut, and bottomfish, while the Columbia River and its tributaries host enormous salmon and steelhead runs and a trophy white sturgeon fishery. Eastern Washington reservoirs and the famous desert lakes hold trout, walleye, and bass. Few states offer this much saltwater, big-river, and desert-lake variety together.
Temperate rainforest and rugged coast hold Roosevelt elk and blacktail deer, while coastal ports launch charters for salmon and halibut.
The big river hosts massive salmon and steelhead runs and a trophy white sturgeon fishery, with guides working its pools and tributaries.
Steep alpine country offers mule deer and high-country hunting plus mountain lakes with trout for those willing to climb.
The irrigated desert of eastern Washington holds walleye, bass, and trout in its seep lakes and reservoirs, plus pheasant and waterfowl.
Did you know? The Olympic Peninsula's Hoh Rain Forest receives up to 14 feet of rain a year, making it one of the wettest places in the continental United States and prime Roosevelt elk habitat.
